Blackberry season in Texas is timed perfectly at the end of Strawberry season and the beginning of peach season. This means if you choose your farm carefully you can pick more than one kind of fruit! We usually visit Marburger Orchard in Fredericksburg in early June and always pick both peaches and blackberries!

The Texas Hill Country is world famous for their peaches. Beginning in June you’ll see peach stands popping up on roadsides everywhere but why buy there when you can pick you own! There are a number of Pick Your Own Farms in Central Texas for peaches. Fredericksburg is a top destination for peach picking but if that’s too far, check out some of the others!

Blueberries are much more prevalent in East Texas but you can find Pick Your Own Farms in Central Texas that feature blueberries! The farms are much smaller and have very limited hours. You need to schedule an appointment to pick in advance.

Fruit picking is one of my boys favorite summertime activities. We got as soon as school lets out for the summer and try to get our visit in before it’s too terribly hot.
