Say hello to Sparkling Iced Coffee. This refreshing, bubbly spin on Cold Brew is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Learn how to make your own!
Sparkling Iced Coffee
Move over Cold Brew Coffee! If you love a cold, caffeinated treat, you definitely need to whip up a batch of Sparkling Iced Coffee. It’s cool and bubbly and the perfect answer to an afternoon slump. Sparkling Iced Coffee is oh-so-simple. I just make some cold brew using Community® coffee French Roast and then mix in Tonic Water. Voila!

:: How to Make Cold Brew Coffee

You can’t make Sparkling Iced Coffee with regular coffee pot coffee. First you need to brew up a batch of Cold Brew Coffee. This is really simple to do but does take time to steep. If you have a coffee grinder, use whole coffee beans and grinding them coarsely. This makes the straining process much easier. If you don’t have a grinder, you can use ground coffee too. You’ll just need to strain it twice.

To make cold brew coffee, mix 2 cups of coffee grounds with 6 cups of cold water.I like to use Community® coffee House Blend. Make sure to wet all the grounds. Then refrigerate in a sealed container overnight. In the morning, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the grounds. Strain twice if you use the pre-ground coffee.

Now that you have your cold brew coffee, you are all set to make Sparkling Iced Coffee! The trick here is that you can’t just use any kind of sparkling water, you actually need to use Tonic Water. The sweetness of the tonic water offsets the bitterness of the coffee and gives your drink a smoother, more balanced flavor.

You can do a 1:1 Tonic to Coffee ratio or if you need it a little sweeter, increase the Tonic to 1.5:1 or 2:1. If you are a purist, try using frozen coffee cubes instead of regular cubes. You can also add a lemon or orange slice for garnish but don’t get any grand ideas. Using lemon or other citrus flavored sparkling water instead of tonic water is not a good idea. Just trust me on this!

What’s better than a tall glass of Sparkling Iced Coffee to perk you up mid-afternoon? Why, adding ice cream of course!  Now that you’ve made a bubbling version of your favorite drink, it’s only natural to add a scoop of ice cream and make it a dessert.

If you really want to go over-the-top, use coffee flavored ice cream. You can also sprinkle in some chocolate covered espresso beans. Personally, I just stick to vanilla. I like things easy.
