Don’t you just love Fall? The Fall Festivals and pumpkin patches are in full swing. But here in the South, Fall often doesn’t feel very Fall-like. It’s hard to break out the cute, tall boots on crisp mornings when the afternoons still heat up into the 90s.

So for all of my fellow Southern ladies stuck in summer, but dying for Fall, I pulled together some of my favorite transitional pieces for Fall. These are some easy things that you can wear to look the part even if the weather isn’t cooperating.

Glasses

.: Stylish Glasses

Are you still sporting the same frames as 5 years ago? It’s time to upgrade to a new look! Thanks to affordable individual vision care insurance from VSP Direct™ you can choose a new, trendy style from dozens of top brand names, like these cute ones from Nine West. Make your glasses one of the best parts of your outfit! Even better? Enter the VSP Direct “Frame Your Fall Look” Sweepstakes for a chance to win a $150 Nine West gift card, a Nine West must-have fall accessories package and free VSP Direct vision insurance for one year!

Shoes1

.: A Good Pair of Neutral Flats

Flats are such a great transition shoe. Sometimes it’s hard to break out the boots when it is still crazy hot outside. But I always feel a little weird wearing sandals and flip flops in October. Grab yourself a versatile pair of flats like these Goalie Casual Flats from Nine West and rock the in-between season look like a pro.

Cardigarn

.: A Basic Cardigan

Mornings and evenings can be crisp an cool even though the afternoon heat up. Grab a basic, lightweight cardigan to throw on over a cute top or tee. You’ll be warm in the mornings and you can ditch it for the warm afternoons. I love this long, navy one from J.Crew. I can wear it with jeans and leggings. it comes in other solids too if navy isn’t your color.

Earrings

.: Fall Colors

Let’s be honest. Those deep, rich, earthy Fall colors aren’t the best look for everyone. Maybe you look better in pastels or jewel tones. This doesn’t mean you can’t still work some Fall color into your wardrobe. Skip the sweaters and other tops and incorporate color in smaller pops. I love to use earrings for Fall color. They are inexpensive and can really make you stand out. These from Nordstrom are my favorites because you can’t really go wrong for $8!

Scarf1

.: A Plaid Scarf

Everyone is mad for plaid this Fall. Give your outfit a little something extra on those crisp mornings with a cute plaid scarf. This is another great way to work in some Fall color. If you grab a light weight scarf you can still wear it on warm afternoons and have it function as an accessory. Or wear a heavier one when the weather gets cooler. Old Navy has tons of affordable options like this White Plaid one.

.: A Year-Round Watch

A watch is as much an accessory as it is a timepiece. I love layering watches  with other jewelry and even just wearing them on their own. Nice watches tend to be a little expensive so you definitely want to choose a versatile one that can transcend seasons. This makes it a perfect transition piece because it can move timelessly through any season. If you can make room in your budget for a classic piece. Check out my favorite one from Michael Kors.
