This fresh Apple Cinnamon Sugar Scrub is a lovely Teacher Appreciation Gift that you can make at home with a few simple ingredients. Print out the custom Apple Cinnamon Scrub Printable and attach to each jar with ribbon or twine and you’ve got a handful of fantastic gifts ready to go. Perfect for Teacher, Librarian, Coach, Principal and other favorite School Staff. They’ll LOVE it!
If you want a longer shelf life for your scrub, omit the raw apple, add another cup of sugar and use a few drops of Chamomile Essential Oil (it has a slight apple smell). Enjoy!
- 1 C. Coconut Oil
- 1½ C. Sugar
- 1 Medium sized Apple (or Chamomile Essential Oil)
- Cinnamon Extract (located in the baking aisle near the spices)
- 4-5 4 oz. Jelly Jars
- Sprinkle of Cinnamon Powder
- Using a small paring knife cut the apple into smaller chunks and puree in a blender or food processor until it is smooth and set aside.
- In a medium size bowl, combine the coconut oil, sugar, apple mixture and 1-2 drop of cinnamon extract (a lot goes a long way) Sprinkle a few shakes of Cinnamon Powder and mix well.
- Add the scrub to Jelly jars.
- Print and cut out the labels and place on the lid; the metal ring will hold the label in place. **For a more rustic look, you could also use a hole puncher to punch a hole in the top of the label – look through with twine and tie around the lid.
- Makes 4-5 4 oz. Jelly jars. The recipe can also be made smaller or larger depending on how much you would like to make.
- Scrub needs to be refrigerated and will last for about 2 weeks in the fridge. If there is any separation simply stir the mixture.
- For soft skin, use scrub on hands, elbows and feet. Rinse well.

One thing I’ve noticed in making subsequent batches sometimes apples are really juicy and sometimes they aren’t. If yours seems really juicy, combine the coconut oil, sugar and cinnamon. Then slowly add the apple mixture. If it seems too wet, squeeze the remaining mixture in a cheesecloth to remove some of the juice.

I love sugar scrubs! Thanks for sharing. This is a brilliant scent combination.
WOW, what an interesting idea, cant wait to try it! Thank you!
I’m really sad that this didn’t work for me. I kinda found it impossible to blend the apples. And the cinnamon really irritated my skin, it felt like burning hot sauce on my tongue but on my legs. It smelled good though so that’s a win!
Oh no Anna! I’m so sorry it was uncomfortable. I typically use this on my hands, feet and elbows. These areas typically aren’t as sensitive as others. You could also cut the cinnamon extract. Just do the sprinkle (or two) of cinnamon to give it a more subtle cinnamon scent.
Can you canned them so they last longer?
Hmmm, I’m not really sure. I’ve never tried that.
how long does this last for. would i be able to prep it for a christmas present now
Since it has fresh ingredients in it the scrub is best for immediate use. I wouldn’t prep it this far in advance.
If I use the chamomile oil instead of the fresh apples, how many drops do i need? and how long would it stay fresh since it would only have sugar and oil? I want to make them as christmas gifts and would like to include the shelf life with the tags.
It depends on how strong you want the scent to be and how pure your oils are. If you are using grocery store brand you might need to do 10-15. But therapeutic grade oils would be more like 5-10. And again, any of this could be more or less depending on how scented you want them. Shelf life should be around 4 weeks.
