I just love lemon bars. That lovely tanginess perfectly complements the sweetness. The buttery crust just melts in your mouth. They are simple and light and the bright yellow color just screams Spring to me! I serve them at showers, barbecues. They are just the perfect treat for this time of year.
Classic Lemon Bars are so simple to make. They don’t require any complicated ingredients. You don’t have to worry about following a bunch of elaborate steps to make a beautiful dessert. The bright color of these lemon bars contrasted with a simple dusting of powdered sugar is what makes these beautiful.
Next time you are in charge of dessert, whip up a batch of these. I’m sure they will be a hit!
- ½ cup Butter, softened
- 1⅓ All Purpose Flour
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- ¾ cup Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Flour
- 3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
- ¼ teaspoon Baking Powder
- In a large bowl, mix together the crust ingredients to form a crumbly dough. Press into the bottom of a greased 8x8 baking dish. Bake the crust at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
- In another large bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, flour and lemon juice until well combined. Add in the baking powder last and whisk together until no lumps remain.
- Pour the lemon mixture over the baked crust and place it bake in the oven at 350 degrees for an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until the lemon layer is set. Cool for several hours before cutting and serving. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
