Fall is an absolutely crazy time in our household. It’s football season…fall sports…Harvest time…Holidays…birthdays…once school starts it just turns into an insanely busy time for me. I feel like I’m racing to catch up every minute.
On top of all the sports and family activities, I also have some fall travel planned and a conference to attend. With all this craziness it’s hard to squeeze in some “Me Time.” But every mom needs a little time for herself. You have to keep your sanity together!
For me, my “Me Time” is during my son’s hour-long baseball practice. I drop my son off at the field and sit on a bench in the shade and take a few minutes to pull my thoughts together and take some deep breaths. I bring along a copy of one of my favorite magazines like People or InStyle and just take those few precious moments to relax.
With all the craziness this fall, I keep my bag stocked with all the essentials to get me through the season. So I thought I’d share what’s in my bag this month to give you some inspiration if you are struggling with craziness too!
Magazines: I always keep magazines in my bag. This is for all those times when you forget how long the carline at the school really is. Or when practice runs over or when the doctor is running late. When you’re at a standstill for 30 minutes, you can flip though InStyle and get fall fashion inspiration or People Magazine and get your celebrity fix for the week. Grab one at Randalls when you are doing your weekly shopping!
A Sweater: You never know when you’ll end up in a chilly library or coffee shop. Or maybe a cool snap in the evening when you are attending a Pop Warner football game. I always keep a sweater in my bag just for those moments.
Hand Lotion: Winter is coming and you gotta be prepared for dry skin. Being out in the cool evening air can start that dry, chapped process even earlier. I like to be prepared.
Lip Gloss: I have a bazillion different lip glosses in my purse. One if I need sunscreen. One if my lips are super chapped. One for color. One because it tastes good. I’m sure you have the same situation if you dig to the bottom of your bag!
Planner: I’m still a write-it-down kind of gal. I don’t really keep my appointments in here but I do keep a calendar for my blog as well as goal lists, to do lists and our weekly menu plan. For all those times an idea strikes me at a random time, I like to have it with me.
Make-up Case: I’m a make-up minimalist, but I love to have a cute bag that holds my lip gloss, mascara, a concealer stick and my hand lotion.
Sunglasses: I always have sunglasses in my bag because I live in Texas. It’s sunny here all.the.time. Hot, blazing sun. So I always have a pair in my bag, two or three in my car and usually one on my head.
Water Bottle: Like I said, Texas is hot, like all the time. It’s important to stay hydrated and you never, ever know when those baseball games will go into extra innings. Stay hydrated my friends.
Snacks & Gum: I am the queen of snacks. We live in a small town outside the city so I have to drive 20-30 minutes to get anywhere. My kids get hungry and it’s hard to tell them they have to wait until we get home when home is another half hour away. So I always keep snacks and gum in my bag.
Hand Sanitizer & Baby Wipes: Because I have boys. Who touch everything. And then they touch me.
You likely have most of these things in your bag too. But if you don’t have the magazines, you need them. Reading a magazine for no other reason than pure enjoyment just puts a smile on my face. And let’s face it, we all need that sometimes!
So head to your local Randalls store or other Safeway affiliate like Jewel-Osco, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Shaw’s, Carr’s or Acme Market and grab some of your faves. I even found a $1 off PEOPLE®, InStyle®, StyleWatch® or Sunset® magazine too through Just for U (or or MyMixx) that’s valid through 10/18/16. So really, there’s no excuse! It is possible to squeeze in some Me Time, even when you are on the go!
