February just steamrolled right by. Thank goodness we have one extra day so I can catch my breath before March starts tomorrow. I have to say that February 2016 will go down in history as one of the best.
We kicked off the month with basketball and then pre-season baseball practices took over my life. If you need me, I’ll be living in my car until May. 🙂 Then the awesomeness just started raining down. First my brother-in-law finally came home on leave after 10 months away. I can’t describe the sheer joy on the boys’ faces when he surprised them at school. We hadn’t told them he was coming.
Then during his visit home, he and his long-time girlfriend got engaged. We didn’t know that was coming either! But we are thrilled to officially welcome her to the family and if you follow me on Pinterest, I’m sure I will be pinning lots of couples shower ideas since I already called dibs on that party!
Then my brother and sister-in-law had their baby boy 10 days early. So I have a nephew now. Cute little thing! I know my little niece is loving being a big sister and I can’t wait to go visit them in a couple weeks. So February for us was crazy busy, very eventful and so much fun! ❤
New Year’s Resolution Update: Remember in the New Year edition of Shellie Unplugged I told you my New Year’s resolution was to be nicer to myself? I have a list of things I want to do for myself this year and my goal is to tackle one thing each month. In January I got my ears re-pierced finally.
This month is not exciting. It got a new night guard. It’s just one of those things I’ve been putting off for ages and I needed to just bite the bullet and go. My other one is year old, brittle and cracking. So I went to my awesome dentist and he fitted me for a new one and I pick it up this week. Don’t worry, I’ll do something fun next month to make up for a boring one this month!
What I’m Reading: I just finished After You by Jojo Moyes. I loved Me Before You and was anxious to read an extension of the story. It was not what I expected at all. When we left off Louisa was sitting in a cute cafe in Paris and I expected this book to be about all her fabulous adventures celebrating life. But After You was a much more realistic aftermath for someone facing the reality and grief of what she experienced. So while it wasn’t what I was expecting, or nearly as good as Me Before You, it was a good read and I enjoyed it.
What I’m Watching: I think I’m the last person in America to watch Making a Murderer. I started it and watched through episode 8. Then my hubby started it so I’m waiting for him to catch up so we can watch the last 2 together. But I’m just going to come out and say that I think he did it. Maybe not in the exact way the state depicted but I think he’s guilty. And I do think the investigators helped the case along by planting some of that evidence.
What I’m Loving: Almond Milk! Where has this stuff been all my life? I don’t what happened between childhood and adulthood but I just don’t like milk anymore. But I live in fear of osteoporosis so I figured I better start seeking out some legit calcium sources and I stumbled upon almond milk. I get the unsweetened vanilla and I love it.
March is here and Spring Break is right around the corner. In next month’s edition I’ll share some of the fun we had on our trip. But if you’re planning your own Spring Break adventures, don’t miss my post with the Best Day Trips from Austin with Kids!
What are you loving right now? Any favorite things I need to check out?
